HPV Vaccination

The HPV vaccine protects you from human papillomavirus which is a common virus that is spread through skin contact. HPV can cause several cancers such as cervical cancer, penile cancer and mouth cancer as well as causing genital warts. The vaccine can work to prevent this and keep you protected. 

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

The HPV vaccination can consist of upto 3 doses, but this varies with your age and how well your immune system functions. A healthcare professional will be able to guide you through this and pick a vaccination schedule best suited to you and your health. You will be injected in the upper arm and will not require any boosters after you have completed your vaccinations. You may experience some side effects such as feelings of nausea, dizziness and a fever but these should subside within a few days.
