I don’t normally pay for my NHS prescriptions do I still have to pay?
Yes, this is a private service we are not funded by the NHS.
Does the cost of the prescription include the price of the medication?
No, the cost of the prescription is separate to the cost of the medication.
GP services
I have multiple medical issues how many can I discuss at an appointment?
There is no limit to what you can discuss. We will not rush you during your appointment. If you do need longer appointments we can arrange for this.
Can I get a prescription from the Doctor?
Yes the doctor can write a private prescription. You can then take this to our pharmacy upstairs or another pharmacy.
Do I have to pay for the Doctor to write a prescription?
If the clinician writes the prescription as part of the consultation there is generally no charge.
However if you come in specifically for a prescription and do not require a consultation there is a charge.
Does the GP see children?
Yes, we can treat the whole family.
Vaccination's
How long is consultation?
Depending on the complexity it can take approximately 20 minutes.
When should I book a consultation?
Ideally you would want it 1-2 months prior to travelling to give the vaccine time to work. However this can be done at shorter notice but you may not get full protection.
Which countries do I need to be vaccinated for?
If you book with our clinician they can discuss your travel plans and advise the best course of vaccinations.
ADHD
What does an ADHD assessment include?
A full medical consultation. The result may be a prescription for medication or advice on non-medication therapies. The clinician will also produce a report which you may wish to give to your School/Workplace/GP.
How does the medication help?
The medication can give you clarity and focus, it can reduce hyperactivity and also aid in impulse control.
What strength of medication do I need?
If medication is indicated the clinician will start you on a suitable dose, if a change is needed the clinician can increase and decrease the dose as necessary.
What age do you need to be for treatment?
You need to be the minimum age of 6.
I am on the waiting list at Alder Hey Hospital can I still come and see you for ADHD?
If you are under Alder Hey we do not normally see you, before booking please contact us for information.
Can you treat the symptoms of ADHD without medication?
Yes, you can treat without medication, this can be discussed with our clinician. This will depend on the severity of the condition and what you want to get out of any particular non-therapeutic solution.
How do I get a repeat of my medication?
You will need to contact the medical hub via telephone or email. Please allow 7 working days for us to contact the clinician and receive a prescription.
When will I get my report?
A detailed report can take up to 28 days for the clinician to write it. We can also send the report to your Workplace/School/GP as requested.
When will I get a prescription for medication?
If the clinician feels medication is suitable he can provide a private prescription on the same day as the assessment.
Where can I get my medication from?
You can receive medication from any pharmacy however we have a pharmacy above the clinic that can dispense the prescription and issue medication.
Can I be referred to the NHS for medication?
Yes, once the clinician feels your condition is stable and medication is sorted they can ask your NHS GP to do a shared care agreement, this means that you will be receiving prescriptions via the NHS
However every GP surgery is different and this would depend on the surgery and if they allow it.
How long is the Appointment?
The appointment will last approximately 1-2 hours for the specialist do a detailed consultation.
Beta HCG Pregnancy Test
What is the difference between this test and the one that I can purchase from a pharmacy.
This test can identify pregnancy’s sooner than a test purchased from a pharmacy. It can also track the progress of a pregnancy if more than one test is done.
How do you perform the test?
The clinician will take a blood sample from you, this is then sent off to our labs.
How early can the test detect a pregnancy?
It can detect pregnancy as early as 7-11 days after conception.
What else can it be used for?
It can be used to detect if you are pregnant and the stage of the pregnancy. The test can also be used to detect other medical conditions such as an ectopic pregnancy, a molar pregnancy and a miscarriage.
Anti-Wrinkle Injection
Is the product harmful/safe to my body?
We use medically licenced botulinum products. Millions of doses of botulinum are given annually. If given by an experienced clinician safety issues are minimal.
How old do you have to be to have anti-wrinkle injections.
By law you must be at least 18 years old.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes this is a prescription only medicine, our clinician will write a prescription and obtain the medicine for you prior to treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Yes as with all medication there can be side effects, these will be explained to you by your clinician. Most patients don’t experience any side effects apart from slight pain on injection and some bruising.
What is the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?
Anti wrinkle injections e.g botulinum is used to relax muscles and therefore reduce wrinkles. Dermal fillers are generally thicker fluids which increase volume and can have more serious side effects.
Blood Test's
How long do blood test results take?
Results can be ready within a few hours to several days, depending on the type of test. Routine tests like a Complete Blood Count (CBC) are often available within 24–48 hours.
How can I ensure accurate test results?

How should I prepare for a blood test?
Preparation depends on the type of test. Some tests require fasting (no food or drink except water) for 8–12 hours before the test. Others may not require any special preparation. Your healthcare provider will let you know if fasting is needed.
