Dissolving Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular treatment but if it is not performed correctly or to your liking it can lead to complications and inadequate results. Issues include; over filling, lumps or uneven areas, asymmetry, migration, swelling or even infection. Dermal filler brands such as Juvederm, Restylane and Teosyal can be dissolved by the injection of hyaluronidase enzyme as they contain hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronidase enzyme only works with dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid.

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

Prior to your dermal filler dissolving treatment, a patch test will be performed to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction to the hyaluronidase enzyme. Usually, only one session is required to dissolve the dermal filler, but if there are larger areas of dermal filler migration, then more sessions may be required. An aesthetics practitioner will examine the area, discuss your treatment plan and inject an amount of hyaluronidase enzyme that is suitable to dissolve the dermal filler. If the dermal filler has to be dissolved due to an emergency, then a patch test may not be performed.
