What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

During an assessment, our autism specialists take the time to understand an individual’s unique profile, including their communication style, behaviours, challenges, and strengths. They will gather information about your developmental and medical history, as well as any family history of autism. We utilise nationally recognised assessment tools, such as the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and the ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised), depending on age and individual needs.

Our team of specialists can then provide comprehensive diagnostic reports, recommendations for support and intervention, and guidance for ongoing care. An adult appointment typically takes between 1–2 hours, depending on the complexity of the assessment.

Children’s Autism Assessment

At The Medical Hub, we provide comprehensive private autism assessments for children, helping families gain a clear understanding of their child’s strengths, challenges and developmental needs. Our evidence-based ASD assessments are carried out by an experienced multidisciplinary team and follow a structured, child-centred approach to ensure every child receives a thorough and individualised assessment.

The assessment includes a detailed neurodevelopmental history, an assessment of speech, language and communication, and a school observation where appropriate to understand how your child functions in the educational environment. We also use recognised autism assessment tools, including the Autism Diagnostic Scale (ASDAS), alongside information gathered from parents, carers and school staff to build a complete picture of your child’s development.

Once all assessments have been completed, our multidisciplinary team reviews the findings before meeting with you for a comprehensive feedback session. We explain the results in clear, easy-to-understand language, answer any questions you may have, and provide guidance on the next steps, including recommendations for school, healthcare professionals and ongoing support where appropriate.
