Dengue fever is a viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes, primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. It is prevalent in areas with inadequate sanitation and stagnant water, such as parts of Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Africa.

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

During your consultation, a healthcare professional will ask about your medical history, travel destination, planned activities, and duration of stay. It is important to take precautions to prevent dengue fever at least 2 weeks before traveling. While there is no specific vaccine for dengue, your clinician will provide advice on preventive measures, such as using mosquito repellent and wearing protective clothing. If you experience any symptoms like fever, fatigue, or soreness after following preventive advice, these should subside within a few days
